Korea 2020: Spiritual Renewal Immersion Experience

7/3/2019

September 2-10, 2020

This educational travel experience, sponsored by the UM Foundation of Western PA, will be an exciting opportunity to witness firsthand how Methodism is working as a thriving and faithful conduit of strength and grace for a nation that seeks its own spiritual and social healing from the painful experiences of historical subjugation to other nations.

In addition to gaining a deeper appreciation for the culture and history of the Korean people, this experience will be an encouragement in our own work to continue striving to be more faithful and thriving in personal and social holiness.

Purpose of the trip

To see the legacy of missionary work in Korea from the past century
To experience the contagious hospitality of the Korean Methodists
To promote Worldwide Methodism
To witness discipleship in the Korean context
To experience and learn from the church growth and prayer movement in Korea
To learn about the cultural heritage and history of Korean people, including their struggles through colonization, 36 years of Japanese occupation, and the partitioning of their nation from the Cold War

Who should go?

Pastors and laity who want to experience Korean culture with an emphasis on spiritual renewal and learn about the history of the Methodist Church in Korea should join us for this exciting opportunity.
