George W. Rooney, CFRE, is a Senior Campaign Consultant for the United Methodist Foundation of Western Pennsylvania. Immediately following his early retirement from Ketchum, Inc. in 1995, George joined the staff of the Foundation. Since that time, he has served many churches of the Western Pennsylvania Conference as they have assessed their ability to raise significant capital dollars.
George entered the field of capital campaigns in 1981 after a diversified career in business and industry management. He has directed, supervised, and had oversight responsibility for hundreds of capital fundraising efforts — mostly as a Senior Vice President of Ketchum, Inc.
George is an active volunteer who has worked on behalf of many Pittsburgh area institutions. These include the Women’s Center and Shelter (Board of Associates), Civic Light Opera Association (Executive Committee of the Board), Project 90 (Advisory Board), Pittsburgh Public Theater (Board of Directors), Western Pennsylvania Caring Foundation (Board of Directors), and the Bradley Center (Executive Committee of the Board). In addition, he has served as an Elder on the Session of the Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church, where he has been a member since 1964.
George is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, and he attended the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He and his wife, Sally, have three grown children and six grandchildren.
